MADISON, Wis. -A 23-year-old Madison woman told police that an Uber driver touched her inappropriately early Saturday morning.

The woman told police that she was picked up near Langdon Street and Wisconsin Avenue by a driver who asked her to sit in the front seat. She said he touched her leg and arm several times while telling her he liked her and saying that he was going to take her someplace other than her apartment.

The woman said she first asked him politely to let her out, but escalated her demands when he initially refused. She told police that she believed she got out near Gorham Street.

The woman said she flagged down a marked taxi. She said the other people and the cab’s driver comforted her, and she wasn’t charged for the ride.

Police said the woman’s Uber receipt doesn’t fully identify the driver, and Uber said it would not provide driver information without a search warrant or subpoena.

The woman had two bruises on her leg, according to police.
