RALEIGH (WTVD) — When he was arrested and charged with sexual battery, a Wake County man listed his employee as Uber, the app-based taxi service.

That suspect, 41-year-old Christopher George Wolinski, has a lengthy criminal record. He was working for a cleaning company when a north Raleigh homeowner said he grabbed her from behind and started grinding into her.

That victim decided to speak to ABC11 about her experience. She said it’s empowering to share her story, and she wants other women to be on alert.

Marilyn O’Brien said she was walking out of the master bathroom where he was cleaning tile when he grabbed her from behind.

“[He] pulled me towards him and started grinding himself into me,” O’Brien told ABC11. “And I said, ‘You need to leave me alone. Don’t touch me.’ And he said, ‘Well, did you get a little thrill out of that?’ And I said, ‘No, I didn’t, and that’s enough.'”

O’Brien said Wolinski came to her home in January for the tile cleaning job. She said after she told him to leave her alone, he suggested she call his company so he could come back and clean the carpets while her husband was away.

O’Brien said she stewed about what happened for days but didn’t say anything because she feared retaliation. When she called the owner of the cleaning company, he encouraged her to call the police.

Now, she is happy Wolinski is facing charges. She said she was shocked when ABC11 showed her Wolinski’s extensive criminal history from Florida. She said she hopes this will be a lesson to employers who send workers into customer’s homes that a background check is a small price to pay to try and prevent what happened to her.

“Sexual predators generally get bolder. And I thought, what if it was somebody’s teenager, somebody’s mother, somebody’s wife?” O’Brien said. “I need to go forward and do this.”

ABC11 emailed Uber Friday morning to try and confirm Wolinski’s employment. An Uber spokesperson provided the following response:

“Uber immediately removed this driver’s access to the platform upon learning of these allegations as we work to gather all the facts.

We stand ready to assist local law enforcement with any information that would be helpful to their investigation”
